The Mzimvubu River is reknown for its fishing (Season May – Oct/Nov) fishermen descend on Port St John to try their luck for Kob, Garrick & Grunter. Fishing off our beautiful coastline is a must for every real fisherman.
Silaka Nature Reserve / 3rd Beach
A beautiful beach and a beautiful day out, fish, sunbathe & swim. Silaka is committed to conserving the biodiversity of a near pristine example of the Eastern Cape Forest. Birdwatchers will enjoy sightings of the Knysna Turaco, Cinnamon Dove, Half Collared Kingfisher & Grey Cuckooshrike. R25 Entrance fee.
Poenskop Beach
Beautiful Beach well worth the drive, a favourite of fishermen, but great for a picnic too.
Agate Terrace Beach
Fish, Braai & Swim at this lovely beach. Good fishing beach and a lovely walk.
Umngazi Beach

From Mthatha
Coming from Mthatha on the R61 BEFORE Port St Johns, take the left turn onto the Pondoland bridge, signposted Lusikisiki and go cross the Mzimvubu river.
Take FIRST turning on the RIGHT just after the bridge.
Approximately 2 / 3 minutes & you come to Bamba Lodge on the left which is opposite Purple Indigo.
From Lusikisiki
Coming from Lusikisiki on the R61 immediately BEFORE the main ‘Pondoland bridge’ crossing the Mzimvubu turn LEFT onto a gravel road.

Payment must be made in advance or on the day of arrival. We do not accept Credit Cards, but we can supply our bank details for a EFT transfer. A booking is secured by a 50% deposit.
