Enjoy the 7 luxurious suites at Dune Ridge , all individually designed and decorated with its own distinctive atmosphere. All have private patios and gardens, while certain have fireplaces in the lounges.
Garden Cottages
The two individual Garden Cottages are privately positioned along the winding fairy-tale paths of our indigenous country gardens.
The interiors are a mix of past and present, with modern plush textural fabrics in a calming palette of soothing pale greens, golds and pastel pinks, dark hued cupboards with writing desk.
Each Garden Cottage is approximately 56m2, has a ceiling fan, mini bar, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer, television with selected satellite channels, DVD machine and en suite bathroom with ball classic ball and claw bath, shower separate toilet and of course a garden patio with table and chairs for bird and butterfly spotting.
Garden Suites
Offering 60m2, the four garden suites are attached to the main house and are close to all the country house’s facilities. Rooms are adorned with dark hued furniture, four poster beds, each individually decorated in rich fabrics.
The suites all lead on to large bathrooms with windows that overlook the gardens, ball and claw baths, showers, marble topped counters and separate toilets.
As with all the suites at the country house, the rooms lead onto private patios with loungers and have a ceiling fan, mini bar, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer, television with selected satellite channels and DVD machine.
Family Cottage
The Family Cottage has two spacious bedrooms to suit any family looking to stay within close proximity to one another.
The Family Cottage boasts an extra large bathroom with twin basins, shower, ball and claw bath, separate toilet, large lounge with a fire place and of course a garden patio with table and chairs for quiet outdoor dining.
As with all the suites at the country house the cottage has a ceiling fan, mini bar, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer, television with selected satellite channels and DVD machine.
St Francis Bay is the Eastern Gateway to the Garden Route. A mere 1 hour and 30 minutes’ drive from Port Elizabeth takes you to one of the most sought after upmarket holiday destinations in South Africa.
Unspoiled beaches, a rugged coastline, a river linked to a unique canal system, moving sand dunes too high to conquer, natural coastal forests and nature reserves with numerous footpaths through unique fynbos species all await holiday makers and visitors from around the world to its hidden treasures.
The “old village” of St Francis Bay boasts a unique building style, where black roofs and white walled homes surround a manmade canal system similar to that in Venice offering residents and holiday makers an exotic marina lifestyle whereas the “new village” Santareme is a Mediterranean type Tuscan style.
Directions:
- Exit the N2 at the Humansdorp/St. Francis Bay and turn Right (from CT) and Left (from PE).
- Continue all the way down, through Main Street (Humansdorp) to the very bottom of the road.
- Turn left and follow the signs to St. Francis Bay along the R330.
- Cross the Kromme River and continue straight through the traffic circle (round-about)
- DO NOT turn off into St. Francis Bay village.
- Travel for approximately 800m and then turn right at the Dune Ridge signboard.
- Travel for 1.5km along the paved and then gravel road to our gate.

The Kromme River stretches about 10km from the sea, can be navigated by leisure boat or canoe. Nature lovers and sportsmen alike have plenty to choose from, enjoying over 50 different sporting codes – from surfing and fishing, tennis and squash, kite boarding, wind surfing and paddling to trail running and mountain biking, plus who can resist two world class golf courses. The Links a Jack Nicklaus signature course or The Bay that runs through the town.
Port St Francis has a unique charm. Squid (chokka), hake and pilchard vessels berth on one side of the harbour and deep sea fishing boats and yachts are moored safely between luxurious residential units on water’s edge. Whale watching trips as well as bay cruises depart from here.
Cape St Francis has a beautiful pristine beach, various protected nature areas with hiking trails. Home to SANCCOB; a penguin and marine bird rehabilitation centre which is situated next to the century old masonry lighthouse. The waves offer some of the finest surfing in the world and host to the Billabong Junior Pro Competitions.
There are over 84 species of frogs in Southern Africa of which 56% are endemic. One fifth of all our frogs were listed in the 1988 Red Data Book on threatened Reptiles and Amphibians. Four species were listed as “endangered” and may have disappeared altogether now.
Dune Ridge is wholly committed to the preservation of the natural environment. Wetlands are regarded as critically endangered. The removal of alien vegetation from our immediate vicinity and the surrounding uplands of Dune Ridge has revitalized a magnificent natural wetland.
Join us for a Frogging Safari where armed with gum boots, head lights and our very own frogging enthusiast, Henry, you will set to explore our local frog hot spots. Whilst mucking about in mud you get to catch these little hoppers, bag, identify and carefully release back into the wild.
