Kurisa Moya Nature Lodge

Directions from Johannesburg / Pretoria to Kurisa Moya:

Follow the N1 from Johannesburg to Pretoria.
Stay on the N1 and follow the signs to Polokwane / Pietersburg
Just before Polokwane, take the TZANEEN R71 off-ramp. The signboards also indicate N1 LOUIS TRICHARDT here.
Go through a traffic light, a 4-way stop and take the slipway to the left next to the highway, turning right at the traffic light onto the R71 towards Tzaneen
About 19,5 km out of Polokwane, just before the traffic lights, take the slipway to the left to the UNIVERSITY OF LIMPOPO. A Sasol garage and Kentucky Fried Chicken is on the right hand side at these traffic lights.
Follow this road for another 26 km until it becomes a dirt road. (You will pass Mankweng hospital and town as well as the University of Limpopo and then pass through various villages)
Watch out for cows and goats on this last stretch of road.
500m after the road becomes dirt, you will see Kurisa Moya’s sign on the left hand side of the road.
Turn right here, go through the gate and follow the signs to the farmhouse and then park in the guest parking above reception. (follow the road past the farmhouse)

Please go slowly and carefully on the internal roads as they are bumpy due to rain run-offs.

Directions from Tzaneen to Kurisa Moya:

From Tzaneen, take the R36 to Duiwelskloof/ Modjadjisloof.
After approx 2 kms, you will cross over the dual highway bridge.
Just over the bridge, turn RIGHT onto the R36 to DUIWELSKLOOF / MODJADJISKLOOF (onto the double highway)
After approx 4 km’s, turn LEFT onto the R71 to Polokwane via Magoebaskloof
As you go up the Magoebaskloof Pass, you will pass:
the Wheelbarrow on your right,
the Sapekoe Tea Estates on your left,
Magoebaskloof Dam and Debengeni Falls on your right,
Magoebaskloof petrol station on your left,
Magoebaskloof Ruskamp on your left
OPTION 1 – Partly dirt road (Approximately 8 km’s of dirt road. This road is usually well-maintained but may not be suitable for a sedan vehicle if there has been heavy rain. Please check before you travel on this road with a sedan vehicle.)

At the top of the pass, turn right onto the dirt road to Houtbosdorp (there is a Kurisa Moya signboard on your right as you turn) And then follow the Kurisa Moya sign boards.
Travel about 2.3 km’s on the J road. Keep to the left at the junction (don’t go straight to the Safcol trail)
Travel for about 4.9 km’s. Turn right onto the O road.
Keep going straight (don’t go to the right towards Dap Naude and Grey Mists).
After about 1 km, the road becomes tar. Follow the tar road for about 9.2 km’s. Don’t turn off this road – continue past the Dap Naude/ Veekraal turnings.
You will reach a T-junction at the bottom of the mountain.
Turn right here to Houtbosdorp.
After about 4km’s, the tar road eventually becomes a dirt road.
After 500 metres of dirt road, you will see a Kurisa Moya sign indicating where to turn in.
Turn right, continue through the gate and follow the signs to the Farmhouse and drive on to park in the guest parking.

OPTION 2 TAR ROAD: (All tar but adds at least 1 hour to your journey and with the current road-works, the additional time may be much longer.)

At the top of the Magoebaskloof pass, continue straight on the R71 towards Haenertsburg.
You will come to a stop street at the town of Haenertsburg, go straight on towards Polokwane for about 33 km’s
You will see a traffic light with a sign to the UNIVERSITY OF LIMPOPO, pass through this traffic light. At the SECOND traffic light, turn RIGHT to the UNIVERSITY OF LIMPOPO. There is a Sasol petrol station and a Spar on the left corner.
Follow this road for 26 km’s. The tar road eventually becomes a dirt road.
The gate to Kurisa Moya is 500 metres after you get onto the dirt road
The sign on the road indicates where to turn in.
Turn right, continue through the gate and follow the signs to the Farmhouse and drive on to park in the guest parking.
