Leshiba offers game viewing at its best. With two valleys that each have their own wetland area, you are certain to have an exhilarating game experience.
The reserve is a sanctuary for giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and leopard. Large antelope include kudu, waterbuck, mountain reedbuck and impala while common and red duiker, Sharpe’s grysbok and klipspringer count among the smaller antelope species.
Leshiba’s guided walks offer an opportunity to experience the bush in a completely new way. Our knowledgeable rangers will show you medicinal and useful plants, how to identify trees, teach you tracking skills and take you up close and personal with wildlife.
They also afford a wonderful opportunity for birders to locate and identify new species.
Leshiba has a family herd of Nooitgedacht ponies. Bred for rough mountainous terrain, these amazing horses roam freely throughout the day and night, living as a wild herd.
For experienced riders and subject to availability of a guide, our rides head out in the early morning and vary in duration from an hour and a half to 2 hours. The trails take you along quiet bush tracks, under canopies of trees and down rocky ridges.
Leshiba Wilderness is the ideal setting for an out of this world stellar experience. The unpolluted, light free view from the top of the Soutpansberg Mountains offers a perfect opportunity for stargazing.
Join our local astronomy guide Kos Coronaios for a nightsky safari. Go on a journey through the solar system and view some of the planets, or wanderers as the ancient Greeks called them, before moving to some of the deepsky objects in our galaxy, the Milky Way.
Leshiba has an extensive network of marked trails that take you through a diverse array of landscapes and ecosystems. Run along spectacular paths through forests, across plains and down breathtaking gorges with sparkling pools, from valleys to mountain tops, get your feet above the clouds.
We have a brand new 10 km single track that winds through some of the most beautiful terrain. Stop and stare at the view from high up and watch around the corners for herds of giraffe and wildebeest. With ververt monkeys swinging through the canopy above you, watching in delight, it is … Pure exhilarating fun!Bring your trail runners, courage and a sense of adventure.
Bring along your mountain bikes and gear and enjoy an exhilarating cycling experience at Leshiba. The reserve is 4km wide by 7km long and there is a wide network of roads and animal tracks over varied terrain. Ride our beautiful new single track route designed by Devlinn Fogg of BikeLife. This ride covers more than 10km, winding up mountains and through grassy plains with plenty of opportunities for close encounters of the wildest kind. Spectacular!
Walking unguided amongst our wildlife is reminiscent of an Africa almost forgotten and still to be discovered.
Leshiba offers an exceptional walking experience. Meander along one of the 12 well-marked trails varying in time from 1 and ½ to 7 hours.
Special features of the trails include baobab trees (in some areas), sparkling rock pools where you can enjoy a refreshing swim after the summer rains and deep gorges framed by high cliffs.
On some of the trails hikers are rewarded with breathtaking views from lofty vantage points.
