Misty Mountain is a relaxed, informal, family friendly, owner managed establishment. We cater for couples and families with a variety of accommodation options. We have 4 different room types:

Misty Mountain is a 280 hectare South African Natural Heritage Site situated on the spectacular Long Tom Pass (31 kilometres from Lydenburg and 24 kilometres from Sabie), Mpumalanga, South Africa. Perched at an altitude of 1700 metres above sea level in a malaria free area, Misty Mountain is uniquely set in mountainous countryside with majestic views across the escarpment and into the lowveld. Conveniently situated on the Panorama Route, Misty Mountain is an ideal base from which to explore the Mpumalanga escarpment (God’s Window, The Pinnacle, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Blyde River Canyon) and world renowned Kruger National Park and adjacent private games reserves.
From Johannesburg/Pretoria
Misty Mountain is 320 kilometres from Johannesburg International Airport.
- Take the N4 from Johannesburg/Pretoria
- Pass Witbank and the Shell Ultra City outside Middelburg.
- Turn left off the N4 at Belfast ( ± 206 kilometres from Johannesburg International Airport to Belfast).
- Take the R540 from Belfast to Dullstroom (33 kilometres).
- Continue on the R540 from Dullstroom to Lydenburg (55 kilometres).
- From Lydenburg, take the R37 to Sabie.
- Travel for 31 kilometres and see Misty Mountain on the right hand side of the road.
From Kruger National Park
Misty Mountain is 115 kilometres from Paul Kruger Gate and 77kms from Phabeni Gate (Kruger National Park).
- From the gate, take the R536 to Hazyview.
- From Hazyview, continue on the R536 to Sabie (43 kilometres).
- From Sabie, take the R37 to Lydenburg.
- Travel for 24 kilometers and see Misty Mountain on the left hand side.

- Cancellation 0-14 days prior to check in date, the deposit is not refundable.

THINGS TO DO
Misty Mountain is centrally situated on the Panorama Route for easy day trips. In the Sabie area, visit the Lone Creek Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Sabie Falls, Mac Mac Falls, Mac Mac Pools and Forest Falls.
Step back in time and explore the historic town of Pilgrim’s Rest. Experience the splendour of God’s Window, the Pinnacle, Blyde River Canyon and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. And, of course, you are already on the Long Tom Pass – take a slow drive through this magnificent mountain pass and soak up the scenery.
The capital of Mpumalanga, Nelspruit, is only 65 kilometres from Misty Mountain. Nelspruit is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in South Africa and offers modern shopping and entertainment facilities. Special attractions include the Lowveld National Botanical Garden, the Reptile Park and the Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
Nearby White River is home to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (70 kilometres from Misty Mountain) and offers some unique country shopping experiences such as Casterbridge Farm and Bagdad Centre.
The Kruger National Park, one of South Africa’s greatest natural treasures, is only 77 kilometres (Phabeni Gate) from Misty Mountain. An easy day trip, the Kruger National Park boasts the Big 5, many other animal and bird species, and a wonderful environment and facilities to experience the bushveld.
