Child Policy:
Children of all ages are welcome.
KINDLY NOTE that children 2 to 12yrs are welcome to join us on our game drives. Generally, these drives are not allowed within 50 metres of a big five sighting, however, this is at the discretion of the ranger at the time of the sighting. This arrangement is for the safety of the children as well as for the rest of the people in the game drive vehicle. Small children must remain quiet on drives so as not to inconvenience other guests on game drives. Unruly behaviour will result in the game drive returning to the lodge and continuing without these children/guests.
The fully serviced self-catering lodge provides an extraordinary adventure for nature lovers, where a tastefully decorated indoor lounge and outside dining – under thatch – overlooks the seasonal river bed and water-hole. An elevated wooden deck provides restful game viewing in the shade of the large Weeping Boer-bean, overlooking the riverbed and waterhole.
Dining takes place in the “Boma” where the peaceful outdoors assist in relaxing the soul. Meals may be prepared in the kitchen or over the fire in the “Boma”. Our staff will assist you in getting the wooden fire started. The experience of Nyala will be etched in your memory forever.
Our self-catering package includes the accommodation, use of all facilities, daily housekeeping and kitchen cleaning, tea & coffee, two game drives per day. Our Rangers are accredited and fully qualified and thus ensure that the Guests receive excellent, informative, as well as highly entertaining game drives. All aspects of the Fauna & Flora found in the Reserve is covered in great detail to complete the Safari Experience

Lodge Facilities
We have 3 fridges in the Lodge as well as a chest freezer (the one at the bar – for clients use – we don’t have a stocked bar).
The water at Nyala is good for drinking. We have a water filter installed. For those who still prefer bottled water may bring their own. We have a backup Generator during power outages.
There are hair dryers, tea & coffee amenities with kettles in the rooms as well as a small Key Lock Safe in each room, ground coffee for the coffee machine in the kitchen and we supply all linen, towels (for swimming too). The Lodge supplies toilet paper and is serviced daily by our staff. Cleaning up and dish washing is included.
Good to know
There is a good Pick ’n Pay, Spar & Lebamba situated in Hoedspruit for shopping or even last minute shopping. The Butchery is good (next to Le Bamba – Bosveld Butchery). There are several bottle stores in town. We would suggest you do any last minute shopping in Hoedspruit before ambling along to Nyala.
Remember wood is available at the camp at R25 per bag if you don’t bring your own. We don’t supply wood from the bush. No guests or staff are allowed to collect wood from the bush
Something to keep in mind: Nyala is in the Greater Kruger Park and therefore in a low-risk malaria area. Malaria prophylaxis are therefore recommended
Situated between the Blyde River Canyon (the third largest canyon in the world) and the world-famous Kruger National Park, Hoedspruit is perfectly positioned for a wide range of activities and other creative offerings. Activities are largely focused around wildlife and safaris, combined with adventure and outdoors. The development of community tourism and the promotion of the Shangaan and Pedi lifestyle’s, have added a fantastic variation to the holiday experience.
