- Older than 10, we recommend reserving the family cottage or inter-leading standard rooms.
- There is a single sofa bed, ideal for children up to 10yrs of age, and space for a cot in each standard & luxury room.
- There is space for a camper cot in the Honeymoon Suite, but no sofa bed.
- Our Family Cottage has 2 extended length single beds in an upstairs loft area with an extended length king for parents.There is a flat rate for this room based on 2 adults and 2 children (of any age).
- Please note that we have one antique wooden and one modern camper cot. Please ensure that these are pre-booked if required.

We have 10 rooms:
- 2 x Standard Rooms (they are, in essence, discounted Luxury Rooms) which are upstairs overlooking the grounds, accessible from the back of the property and have an inter-leading door through the balcony therefore making them more affordable for families or groups of friends travelling together. However, they do not need to be booked together.
- 6 x Luxury Rooms which are identical in décor & facilities except for unique antique cupboards & dressers.
- 1 x Family Cottage which is also more private & separate from other guests.
- All rooms are fitted with tea/coffee stations, refrigerators, aircon, satellite TV, DVD players, electronic safes, underfloor heating & heated towel rails in the bathrooms.
- All rooms have wood-burning fireplaces except the Family Cottage.
- Pure goose down bedding, 100% cotton embroidered linen, embroidered gowns, slippers & pure wool carpets add to the luxury.
- We were awarded 5-star Guesthouse by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa in December 2008 and again in December of 2009. We were awarded 5-star Country House in February of 2011, January of 2012, January 2013, February 2014 & now March 2015 by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa.
The area around Schoone Oordt offers guests an abundance of activities. Hiking, horse-trails, bike-trails, watersports as well as visits to the nearby Nature Reserves are a must. A trip to the De Hoop Nature Reserve for seasonal whale watching cannot be missed, a short journey over the Tradouw’s Pass to quadbike in Barrydale as well as a day trip wine-tasting in the Robertson Wine Valley . Along with a nine-hole golf course, quaint coffee shops, the renowned Drostdy museum, berry-picking, lavender-picking, good restaurants and a feast of art, Swellendam spoils its visitors for choice.
Swellendam is situated on the N2 halfway between Cape Town and George, approximately 220km either way.
The N2 from Cape Town or Mossel Bay/George:
1. Take the Swellendam East turn-off.
2. Drive back downhill, through the 3-way stop.
3. Just after the Koornlands River Bridge, turn immediately right.
4. Turn before the grass verge with Swellendam written in white brick on it.
5. Schoone Oordt Country House is on the right.
The N1 from Cape Town:
1. Travel through the tunnel to Worcester.
2. At the 3rd set of taffic lights turn right to Robertson/Ashton.
3. Drive straight through Robertson and Ashton.
4. Just after Ashton is a turn to the right onto the R60 to Swellendam.
5. Turn left at the 4-way stop and continue through the town.
6. Quite soon after the large white church on the left, the road forks, keep to the left.
7. Take the first right into Swellengrebel Street.
8. Schoone Oordt Country House is on the left

Deposit Required:
We require a 50% deposit from guests to secure a reservation.
Cancellation Policy:
- No show or early departure forfeits 100% of total stay.
- Cancellations 0 to 14 days prior forfeit 100% of total stay.
- Cancellations 15 to 28 days prior forfeit 50% of total stay.
- Cancellations in excess of 28 days prior will incur a 10% administration fee to cover banking and handling charges.
- Please note that we do consider a cancellation on merit, if it is truly beyond the guests’ control, and will charge accordingly.
