Visitors to the Outeniqua Farmers’ Market will find nearly 130 food and craft stalls spread across a total trading area of 1 260m². The mix of trading stalls has been carefully planned to ensure that international visitors, domestic tourists and local residents find high quality, locally sourced and grown goods and produce.
The stalls at the market comprise a sophisticated mix of local produce and crafts. All goods are priced to ensure that everything remains accessible and affordable. Stallholders have been selected through a rigorous research and interview process. All goods must be sourced from the local George area and they must be produced, grown or processed in the area. This means that stallholders can showcase their products to an international market while injecting crucial trade revenue that stays within the area.
The market is also designed with convenience, entertainment and seasonality in mind. There is parking for over 1 200 cars. Entertainment nooks provide a space for carefully selected musicians, comedians, singers, bands and other entertainers to keep the whole family busy. With 300m² of additional undercover space, the market can remain open in any weather. A network of walkways are perfect for walking the dog through the venue, so even four-legged visitors can soak up the ambience. Kids can play in the activity area and can interact with the stalls designed especially for them.
