With nearly four kilometres of waterfront, Bajadam is the only resort at the dam where both anglers and motorboat enthusiasts are welcome. Situated on the southern bank of the Bronkhorstspruit Dam, Bajadam is the ideal resort for a number of water sport activities. Shaded camping sites with electricity points near the ablution facilities are available or you can pitch your tent on the waterside for all night fishing. Camping in tents and caravans are allowed. A private camping area with electricity, lapa and fireplace is also available. Bajadam is approximately 15 kilometres from Bronkhorstspruit, towards Delmas on the R42-road (S25°53.841′, E28°42.621′) and only an hour’s drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria.

The Bronkhorstspruit Dam, or “Bronkies” as it is known to the locals, is named after its neighbouring town, and both lie less than 100km from Johannesburg – not a long way to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The dam is popular particularly for those who want bird watching and fishing to be part of their getaways in Gauteng.

Directions from Johannesburg

N12 Kemptonpark/Witbank highway to Bronkhorstspruit/Delmas turnoff (R42).

  • Turn left on the R42 to Bronkhorstspruit.
  • After about 20km you’ll see a big BAJADAM sign on the left (S25°53.841′, E28°42.621′).
  • Follow the dirt road and BAJADAM directions.

Directions from Pretoria

N4 Pretoria/Witbank highway to Bronkhorstspruit.

  • Take the (R25) Bronkhorstspruit (Oos) / Delmas / Groblersdal turnoff (it is the second Bronkhorstspruit turnoff).
  • Turn right over highway.
  • After 3,7km, turn left at (R42) DELMAS turnoff.
  • After about 8km you’ll see a big BAJADAM sign on the right (S25°53.841′, E28°42.621′).
  • Follow the dirt road and BAJADAM directions.
