Tsitsikamma Village Inn, located in the village of Storms River on the beautiful Garden Route, offers a unique form of accommodation. Most of our rooms are situated around a typical Village green. These buildings represent many of the different building styles that were to be found in the Cape Colony during the 1800s.
The Oude Martha Restaurant serves hearty and delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Other popular on-site restaurants include the characterful Hunter’s Pub and the informal Cafe Bacchus. Next door to the hotel, is the Marilyn’s 60s Diner, where you’ll enjoy a trip down memory lane with the vintage motorcycles, cars, memorabilia and a typical diner menu. Enjoy an Ale or Lager in our microbrewery which also offers a number of other South African craft beers.
Our hotel is a great base from which to explore the natural attractions and adventure options of the region and there are many ways to do this from hiking trails, mountain biking and horse rides to tree-top canopy tours and bungee jumping. Between excursions, guests are welcome to relax around the sparkling swimming pool, visit the hair salon or entertain themselves in the games room. There is complimentary unlimited wi-fi internet access available throughout the hotel. In-room facilities include air-conditioning/heating, electrical blankets, television and a tea/coffee station.
The Hotel is renowned for its good food, old world charm and has been a favourite for many a year!
We have re-constructed a typical Cape Village of the past, where old traditions of warmth and hospitality thrive side-by-side with all the comforts of the modern day. Visitors can delve into the past and select their accommodation in a typical Cape Village.
You can opt for a sojourn in the imposing Cape Dutch style, the Drostdy or the Landdrost’s (magistrate’s) house, or you can choose to stay in one of the charming forester’s cottages, in a quaint fisherman’s cottage or a simple Karoo Pastorie (pastor’s home) with its deep stoep and sash windows, a humble barn, a honeymoon room, or rustic log rooms for the more adventurous. Each cottage has its own individual garden that matches the specific style of gardening reminiscent to each individual colonial building style. Each room is tastefully decorated in the appropriate style for the period.
Tsitsikamma is a khoi word meaning “place of abundant or sparkling water”. The region stretches from the Bloukrans River in the west to Eerste Rivier in the east, is bordered on the north by the imposing Tsitsikamma mountains and in the south by the Indian Ocean.
The area is covered in large tracts of indigenous forest, commercial plantation and fynbos. Deep river gorges cleft the plateau as they make their way down to the sea.
A mild all year round climate allows one to make the most of all the outdoor activities that are on offer. Tsitsikamma National Park, declared in 1964, encompasses a marine reserve made up of 80km of coastline and offers the visitor magnificent scenery, walks, a small beach, restaurant and shop. The famous Storms River Suspension Bridge spans the river mouth.
At the most western side of the Tsitsikamma, is a hidden gem, Natures Valley. Numerous trails and a beautiful beach are to be found here. This is where the world renowned Otter finishes, and Tsitsikamma Mountain trails starts.
