The international award-winning Bientang’s Cave Seafood Restaurant is situated on the shores of Walker Bay and is carved into the depths of a century old cave extending over the rocks almost to the water’s edge. The tables are just metres from the sea.
It’s a great spot to enjoy fresh oysters and fine wine with the waves lapping at your feet. Renowned for the best whale-watching in the world, Bientang’s Cave is an exceptional choice for all special occasions – and they are child-friendly. The Southern Right whale visits these shores every year from May until December, and here you can sit on the deck, enjoying delicious seafood and drinking the best wines that the Cape has to offer, while watching whales lazing in the ocean a mere 100m away.
They are famous for their homemade snoek pâté, their Bouillabaisse Soup and their fresh line fish done over the coals in the cavernous fireplace. They also offer a full a la carte menu consisting of various seafood, daily specials and a range of delectable desserts and coffees. Many people visit them for their hot and cold platters of oysters, prawns, mussels, calamari and line fish. Even better would be to create your own combination, however there is not much for vegetarians.
This rustic and charming restaurant with its unbeatable views is a great option for taking the kids whale watching in season.
