café Roux is one of my absolute favourite restaurants to visit with my kids. We used to go there often while living in Hout Bay, but since moving to Knysna we still make an effort to pop in for a meal whenever we’re in Cape Town.
Just minutes from Noordhoek beach, this lovely child-friendly restaurant provides outstanding service in welcoming and comfortably tasteful surroundings.
At café Roux it’s all about friends, family, good times and fantastic food. Delicious, fresh and well-presented meals are served with a smile, and everything, from mayonnaises and chutneys to dressings, focaccia and desserts, is made in-house. Breakfast and lunch is served along with home-made cakes, scones, muffins and tarts, freshly baked in-house and served throughout the day. The restaurant has a delightful children’s menu and caters very well for parties, providing food, party packs and pony rides.
As soon as we arrive at the farm village our daughters usually head straight for the extensive kid’s play area bordering café Roux, where they run between the swings and the jungle gym or play hide and seek in the doll house. The playground has a toddler’s corner complete with toys and a child minder. It is a real treat to sit and relax under the oak trees while watching our children and their friends delighting in what kids do best, playing.
café Roux offers an indoor and outdoor dining experience without airs – at reasonable prices. You’ll find live music on Sundays, stand-up comedy on special occasions and always good times, good wine and excellent food.
